FEMALE HORMONE PROFILE

Luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) – As the name suggests FSH stimulates the ovarian follicle which results in the growth of eggs. It also stimulates the production of estrogen in the follicle. Raised levels of estrogen send a signal to our pituitary gland to stop producing FSH and to start making more LH. As a result of LH the egg are released from the ovary, a process called ovulation.

Prolactin – is a hormone produced in the pituitary gland situated in our brain. It is named prolactin because it play important role in lactation (milk production). It also has other various functions in the body, from acting on the reproductive system as well as regulating the immune system. Studies have found that prolactin hormone levels in men are coupled to low sexual desire.

17-beta Estradiol (estradiol) – Estradiol, also spelt oestradiol, is an estrogen steroid hormone and the major female sex hormone. It is a steroid hormone primarily produced by the ovaries during the reproductive lifespan. It is responsible for the development of female secondary sexual characteristics. It5 plays important role in the maintenance of the female reproductive tract.
